Abstract Objective: To compare the efficacy of 6 kinds of traditional Chinese medicine injections (TCMi) combined with mesalazine in the treatment of active ulcerative colitis. Methods: Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of TCMi were searched in domestic and foreign databases in accordance with the predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data process and analysis were performed with WinBUGS and Stata softwares. Results: A total of 561 patients were enrolled in 6 RCTs in the present study. Seven treatment groups included 6 TCMi-combined-with-mesalazines and 1 group used mesalazine alone. Differences in efficacy among the 7 treatment groups did not have statistical significance. Conclusion: There is no statistical difference in the efficacy of 6 TCMi combined with mesalazine in the treatment of active ulcerative colitis.
