Abstract Objective: We propose the correlation of the philosophies of quantum mechanics with embodied clinical reasoning of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The generation and development of knowledge are the results of human thinking activities which make it possible for the TCM to evolve in pace with changes. The quantum theory leads us to believe that the important factors to promote the development of TCM are closely related with the mysterious philosophy of quantum mechanics. This paper analyzes and comprehends the important concepts of quantum mechanics, such as the holistic view and the complementarity principle, so as to enrich the corresponding concepts of TCM theory. Combined with TCM clinical practices, it describes the three basic procedures of emdodied clinical reasoning and explores the holistic concept and the individualized characteristics in the diagnosis and treatment.
