Expression of MMPs, TIMPs and inflammatory factors in habitual abortion cases |

Abstract Objective: To investigate the expression of MMPs, TIMPs, Oxidative stress and inflammatory factors in serum and endometrial tissue of habitual abortion cases and to evaluate their clinical significance. Methods: From Oct. 2012 to Oct. 2014, 32 habitual abortion pregnant women were recruited as observed group, meanwhile 35 pregnancy abortion women were enrolled as control group. The expression of MMP-2, MMP-9, TIMP-2, TIMP-1 in serum and endometrial tissue were measured by ELISA. The expression of inflammatory factors in endometrial tissue including IL-6, TNF-α, MDA, SOD and GSH-PX were also detected by ELISA. Finally, the correlations of them were analyzed. Results: Compared to control group, the expression of MMP-2 in serum of observed group decreased obviously (P<0.05), MMP-9, TIMP-2 increased significantly (P<0.05); the expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 of observed group in endometrial tissue declined obviously (P<0.01), while TIMP-2 improved remarkably (P<0.05); the expressions of MDA, IL-6, TNF-α of observed group in endometrium tissue were upregulated (P<0.05), but SOD was downregulated (P<0.05); in endometrial tissue of observed group, there were positive correlation between MMP-2, MMP-9 with SOD, GSH-PX, and between TIMP-2 with MDA, TNF-α. Conclusion: The imbalance of MMPs/TIMPs system and abnormal expression of inflammatory factors may be associated with habitual abortion.
