Abstract Objective: To investigate the most effective opportunistic screening method of the precancerous lesion and early cervical cancer. Methods: Pap smear, liquid-based cytologic test (LBC), human papillomavirus DNA with a second-generation hybridization assay (HC2) were performed in 856 women in First People’s Hospital of Wenling from March 2011 to May 2013. The results were evaluated by the colposcopic biopsy which was considered as gold standard. Negative colposcopy was accepted as a negative outcome. Results: The sensitivity of Pap smear, LBC, HC2 was 55.3%, 80.9%, and 87.3%. The specificity was 94.1%, 95.8% and 83.6%. The negative predictive value was 93.5%, 97.1% and 97.8%. The positive predictive value was 58.1%, 74.2% and 44%. Conclusion: LBC is an effective screening method of primary opportunistic cervical cancer screening.
