Abstract Objective: A moderated mediation model was constructed to investigate the mediating role of career self-efficiency in the relationship between calling and professional commitment and the moderating role of learning motivation. Methods: A questionnaire was used to investigate the calling, professional commitment, career self-efficiency and learning motivation of 2 780 college students. Results: The calling had a significant positive predictive effect on professional commitment; Career self-efficiency played a mediating role in the relationship between calling and professional commitment; Learning motivation moderated the mediating effect of career self-efficiency between calling and professional commitment. Conclusion: Professional mission is an important factor affecting professional commitment, and it is an effective way to enhance professional commitment of medical college students by enhancing professional efficacy and learning motivation.
