Abstract Objective: To construct an online and offline blended teaching mode for the course “International Trade Practice” based on the OBE concept, and to explore its practical effectiveness. Methods: Totaly 287 English majors from 6 colleges in Zhejiang Province that offer the course International Trade Practice were selected as the experimental group and 272 as the control group. The experimental group adopted the mixed online and offline teaching mode, while the control group took the traditional teaching mode. The teaching outcome was evaluated by the final exam scores and questionnaire results on the teaching reform mode. Results: After implementing the new teaching mode, it is found that the test scores of the experimental group students were significantly improved compared with the control group (P<0.05), the satisfaction rate of the experimental group with the new teaching mode was significantly higher than that of the control group with the traditional teaching mode (P<0.05) and the students in the experimental group had good feedback on the application of teaching models, the cultivation of practical knowledge and abilities, and the cultivation of independent learning abilities (mean value>6). Conclusion: The new teaching mode based on the OBE concept has achieved better teaching application effect in that it helps to improve students’ autonomous learning ability and promote students to achieve expected learning outcomes.
