Abstract Microorganisms associated with bacterial vaginosis (BV) potentially contribute to human papilloma virus (HPV) infection and even persistent infection, while HPV infection can facilitate the progressi n of bacterial vaginosis. Recently, Prevotella has been identified to be intimately tied to persistent HPV infection. prevotella, as a common commensal in the vagina, is a specialized anaerobic bacterium that is difficult to culture and has received scant attention. With more sophisticated technology for genetic sequencing engineering. Prevotella has acquired prominence in gynecological diseases. It has been documented that Prevotella might be an early colonizing flora at the onset of inflammation in the genital tract, which facilitates the invasion of other bacteria and viruses into the genital tract. The authors summarize the research progress in recent years in the role of Prevotella in bacterial vaginosis and persistent HPV infection, with the aim to better understand Prevotella and to provide reference for the prevention and treatment of HPV infection and related diseases.
