Abstract:Objective: To explore the expression and significance of aquaporin (AQP) 1, 3, 9, 10 in lesions of actinic keratosis, Bowen’s disease and invasive squamous cell carcinoma. Methods: Immunohistochemistry was utilized to measure the expression of AQP 1, 3, 9, 10 in tissue samples from normal human skin, actinic keratosis, Bowen’s disease and invasive squamous cell carcinoma. Results: The expression of AQP 3, 9, 10 in tissue samples from actinic keratosis, Bowen’s disease and invasive squamous cell carcinoma all increased significantly compared with the normal skin tissue. The high staining of AQP1 was observed in vascular inner membrance and endothelial cells of invasive squamous cell carcinoma. The expression of AOP9 and AQP10 in tissue samples from invasive squamous cell carcinoma increased significantly compared with actinic keratosis. Conclusion: The upregulated expression of AQP1, 3, 9, 10 may correlated with the carcinogenesis and progression of invasive squamous cell carcinoma.
