Abstract:Objective: To test the reliability and validity of simplified Chinese version of the Iowa infant feeding attitude scale (IIFAS) among fathers. Methods: Totally 204 fathers were investigated with simplified Chinese version of the Iowa infant feeding attitude scale. Cronbach’s alpha and exploratory factor analysis were used to test the reliability and validity of the scale respectively. Results: The critical ratio of the items ranged from to 3.747 to 7.800. The correlation coefficients between each item with the total score ranged from 0.287 to 0.549. The Cronbach’s alpha was 0.672 and the Cronbach’s alpha of each factor ranged from 0.500 to 0.712. The construct validity was confirmed by factor analysis and 54.054% variance was explained by 4 factors, the factor loading value ranged from 0.436 to 0.885. The predictive validity was acceptable. Conclusion: The simplified Chinese version of the Iowa infant feeding attitude scale is a reliable and valid instrument. It can be used to measure the infant feeding attitude of fathers in China.
