Abstract:Objective: To investigate the clinical diagnosis in the early stage of infection with paragonimiasis of chest and lung type. Methods: Totally 62 cases of paragonimiasis in the early infection stage in Yongjia County People’s Hospital were included in the study. The clinical, laboratory and imaging findings of paragonimiasis were analyzed retrospectively. Results: Out of 62 cases, 50 complained of cold-like symptoms in their first vist, and all 62 had positive paragonimus antibody, with the eosinophil count in peripheral blood (5.51±3.06)×109/L, the proportion of eosinophil 35.6%±19.0%, an increase to a certain extentin the percentage of eosinophilic. 42 cases complicated with pleural effusion, 4 cases of simple pleural effusion, and 16 cases of intra-pulmonary lesions only. Conclusion: The possibility of paragonimiasis infection should be taken into consideration in the first diagnosis of patients with cold-like symptoms, elevated eosinophils and pulmonary lesions.
